EMPRI had its humble beginning as the Environmental Training Institute (ETI) under Karnataka State Pollution Control Board (KSPCB) in the year 1996 with the assistance from Government of Denmark. Subsequently, it was renamed as the Environmental Management and Policy Research Institute (EMPRI), in the year 2002 with an enhanced mandate of organizing not only need based trainings but also conducting demand driven applied and policy research in environment management. It is an autonomous institute under the Department of Forest, Ecology, and Environment, Government of Karnataka, registered under the Karnataka Societies Registration Act 1960. EMPRI is the nodal agency for all issues on Climate Change in Karnataka. This seminar is being organized under the DST SPLICE project titled “Establishing /Strengthening the State Climate Change Centre under National Mission on Strategic Knowledge for Climate Change (NMSKCC) in the state of Karnataka’’.
